On Wednesday 7 January, Oslo Centre was visited by two of the founding fathers of what then was called The Norwegian MG Register. Mr Baard Nielsen and Mr John Erik Skjefstad, both are currently Honorary Members of MGCC Norway, had been invited to speak on the creation of the register in 1970 and the first years of service.
Baard og John Erik spoke about how they managed to get in touch with other MG owners, on how the NMGR became a part of the MGCC family, on meets and gatherings and on participation at events in the UK.
At the time, membership was attached to the car, rather than the owner, and a total of 40 MG cars had been identified. In addition to the two invited guests, a third of the early enthusiasts were present. Mr Tore Lie, currently leader of Follo Centre, is right there in the picture receiving a prize from a somewhat younger version of Baard.
We extend our thanks to Baard og John Erik for giving the younger members some insight into the early history of the club and the MG cars in Norway!!
